Where 2026 counselling stands
No 2026 NEET-PG (medical) state counselling notice, brochure or schedule published as of 1 October 2026; the CET Cell's 2026-27 CAP page has no NEET-PGM link yet. NBEMS declared NEET-PG 2026 results on 24 September 2026.
How many government seats the state fills
No state publishes this number, so here is how it is built. NMC’s register records the sanctioned PG intake of each government college; MCC’s results record how many of those seats went through the All India Quota. What is left is the state quota — what Maharashtra CET Cell itself allots.

Who can apply
- Must have passed MBBS from a college in Maharashtra (MUHS-affiliated or a deemed university in the state), with internship completed by 31 July 2025 for the 2025 session.
- Exception: Maharashtra domiciles who took an MBBS seat outside the state through the 15% All India Quota, AIIMS or a central institute are also eligible.
- Foreign-university MBBS graduates are not eligible; NRIs may compete only for NRI-quota seats in private/minority colleges.
- OCI holders with OCI status before 4 March 2021 and a Maharashtra MBBS are eligible for state-quota and NRI seats.
- Qualifying percentile per NBE: 50th general/EWS, 45th general PwBD, 40th reserved. In January 2026 NBE cut this to 7th, 5th and 0th; the CET Cell reopened registration for Round 3.
- Eligibility rests on where MBBS was studied, not residence. No fetched source describes how Maharashtra applied Tanvi Behl v. Shrey Goel.
| Seat type | How it works |
|---|---|
| State quota (government/corporation/aided colleges) | 50% of seats; the other 50% go to All India Quota via MCC. AIQ seats are not reverted to the state after AIQ Round 2. |
| In-service quota | 20% of state-quota seats in government/corporation/aided colleges for state in-service doctors with at least 3 years in remote/difficult areas. |
| Private and minority colleges | 50% State CET Cell quota (suffix S), 35% institutional quota (I) and 15% NRI quota (N), all allotted centrally by the CET Cell on NEET-PG merit. |
| Horizontal reservations | 5% PwD and 1% orphan in government/corporation/aided colleges. |
