Madhya Pradesh NEET PG state counselling
DME MP runs online state counselling (Round 1, Round 2, mop-up, then a college-level stray round) for MD/MS seats under the MP Medical Education Admission Rules 2018. Commonest surprise: Round 1 is closed to anyone without an MP MBBS.
- ~637 government state-quota seats
- 13 government colleges
- Official documents, cited
Where 2026 counselling stands
The DME portal now has an 'MP State NEET P.G. Counselling-2026' page, but as of 1 October 2026 it shows only the 2026-27 list of PwD assessment boards. No 2026 registration or round schedule has been published.
How many government seats the state fills
No state publishes this number, so here is how it is built. NMC’s register records the sanctioned PG intake of each government college; MCC’s results record how many of those seats went through the All India Quota. What is left is the state quota — what DME Madhya Pradesh itself allots.

Who can apply
- An amendment of 3 September 2025 requires an MBBS from an NMC-recognised medical college in MP. This is relaxed from Round 2 onward only if no MP graduates are left for a vacancy.
- Before that amendment, the 2018 rules required MP domicile (mool niwasi). The new text drops residence but does not cite Tanvi Behl v. Shrey Goel.
- Round 1 2025: candidates from outside MP, or without an MP MBBS, could take only the 50% open seats in private colleges.
- You must meet the NEET PG percentile for your category, hold permanent or provisional MP Medical Council registration, and have finished internship to NMC norms.
- NRI quota seats in private colleges are open to eligible NRIs; NRIs may also compete for open unreserved seats on merit.
| Seat type | How it works |
|---|---|
| Government colleges, open seats | State-quota MD/MS seats filled by category; in Round 1 2025 they went only to MP MBBS graduates. |
| In-service quota (30%) | 30% of degree seats in government and private colleges, for in-service doctors with at least three years' rural, remote or difficult-area service. |
| Private colleges, institutional | Seats for MP MBBS graduates, including the 30% in-service share. |
| Private colleges, open | 50% open seats, available to candidates from any state from Round 1. |
| NRI quota | 15% of private-college seats; no category reservation applies. |
Reservation, service and fees
- Reservation
- Under the rules as amended on 2 July 2024: SC 16%, ST 20% and OBC 14% in all colleges, EWS 10% in government colleges only. Horizontal: women 33%, PwD 5%.
- In-service candidates
- 30% of degree seats go to in-service doctors with at least 3 years' rural, remote or difficult-area service; they must serve 5 years after PG or pay a Rs 50 lakh bond. In 2025 they registered as open category first.
- Service bond
- Seat-leaving bond once mop-up starts: Rs 30 lakh at government colleges, or the full course fee at private ones. A rural service bond also applies, but its terms weren't found in official sources. In-service: 5 years or Rs 50 lakh.
How the process runs
- Create a profile and register on dme.mponline.gov.in; the Rs 1,100 fee is non-refundable. OTPs go to the mobile number registered for NEET PG.
- Merit list and vacancies are published, and objections to the vacancy list are heard.
- Fill choices and lock them with an OTP, paying a Rs 100 portal fee; re-lock any edited choices.
- After allotment, report in person at the allotted college with original documents, pay fees online, and choose upgradation YES or NO.
- Round 2: advance deposit before choice filling (government seats Rs 25,000 UR / Rs 12,500 reserved; private Rs 2 lakh; NRI Rs 10 lakh).
- Mop-up: registration reopens, then a Rs 2 lakh deposit (Rs 10 lakh for NRI) before choice filling.
- Stray round: candidates mark attendance in person at the institute, and seats go in real time by merit, about 10 candidates per vacancy.
