Andhra Pradesh NEET PG state counselling

Dr. NTR UHS fills convener seats on NEET PG rank, split by local area (AU / SVU) plus a 15% unreserved pool, with separate management rounds. Candidates often misjudge local status, which depends on pre-MBBS schooling.

  • ~937 government state-quota seats
  • 15 government colleges
  • Official documents, cited

How many government seats the state fills

No state publishes this number, so here is how it is built. NMC’s register records the sanctioned PG intake of each government college; MCC’s results record how many of those seats went through the All India Quota. What is left is the state quota — what Dr. NTR UHS itself allots.

A derived figure. It covers the government colleges NMC’s register could be matched to, so the true state quota is a little larger. Private and deemed colleges are not in it; their seats are counselled under the state’s private, management and NRI rules described below.

Who can apply

  • Convener quota: 85% of seats in each course go to local candidates of that area (AU or SVU); 15% are AP-unreserved (APUR).
  • Since a 20-07-2024 government memo, APUR seats are reserved for local candidates of the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions; non-locals are barred from local seats.
  • Non-locals with AP domicile (10-year residence, or a parent employed in AP) may compete for APUR seats only.
  • Local status: four consecutive years of study (or residence) in the area up to first appearance in Final MBBS Part-II; a seven-year fallback rule applies.
  • Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada is state-wide: local seats there split 65.62% AU and 34.38% SVU, plus 15% unreserved.
  • Management quota S1A (15% of S1) is open nationally; S1B (85% of S1) is for AP locals; S2 is NRI and S3 institutional.
  • The 2025-26 prospectus does not mention the Tanvi Behl ruling; AP kept its study-based local-area system.

Keep ready: NEET PG 2025 score card; SSC memo (date of birth); MBBS degree or provisional certificate and MBBS study certificate; Internship completion certificate; Medical council registration; Study certificates class 6 to 10+2 (Siddhartha graduates); 10-year residence or study proof (non-locals); AP-issued caste / minority certificate, if claimed; Aadhaar, MBBS transfer/migration certificate, PwBD certificate if applicable; Annexure-IVA/IVB for in-service candidates.

What costs candidates seats here

Caste certificates from other states are not accepted; the candidate is treated as general category.
Graduates of Siddhartha Medical College get local area from schooling (class 6 to 10+2), not MBBS; missing those certificates causes errors.
Joining a seat and withdrawing in the final phase costs Rs 3 lakh and a three-year bar from AP PG counselling.
Not reporting after a stray-round allotment bars you from the next year's AP counselling; 21 candidates were barred for 2026.
Forfeiting the Rs 50,000 mop-up security deposit by not joining also ends participation in all further 2025-26 rounds.

Andhra Pradesh's government colleges, seat by seat

The hardest All India Quota seats in Andhra Pradesh last year: MD Radiodiagnosis at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), A (567); MD General Medicine at Andhra Medical College (652); MD Radiodiagnosis at Andhra Medical College (769); MD Radiodiagnosis at S.V.
