How many government seats the state fills

No state publishes this number, so here is how it is built. NMC’s register records the sanctioned PG intake of each government college; MCC’s results record how many of those seats went through the All India Quota. What is left is the state quota — what Rajasthan NEET PG Counselling Board itself allots.

A derived figure. It covers the government colleges NMC’s register could be matched to, so the true state quota is a little larger. Private and deemed colleges are not in it; their seats are counselled under the state’s private, management and NRI rules described below.

Who can apply

  • State-quota seats (50% of government-college seats and 50% of private-college seats): NEET PG 2025 qualifiers with MBBS from a college in Rajasthan, plus doctors serving under the Government of Rajasthan.
  • Within government-college state seats, 25% give preference to MBBS graduates of the University of Rajasthan or RUHS.
  • The other 50% of private-college seats are open to NEET PG qualifiers with an NMC-recognised MBBS from anywhere.
  • The MBBS-in-Rajasthan condition applies up to Round 3; seats left after Round 3 go to the stray round without it.
  • The 2025 booklet bases eligibility on where the MBBS was done, not on residence, but it does not mention Tanvi Behl v. Shrey Goel.
  • Internship must be completed by 31 July 2025; candidates registered outside Rajasthan must submit Rajasthan Medical Council registration within one month of joining.
Seat typeHow it works
State quota, government colleges50% of seats in government, RajMES society and RUHS CMS colleges, for Rajasthan MBBS graduates and state-government doctors; allotted as 'Government' seats.
Management (payment) seatsMD/MS management seats in RajMES society colleges and RUHS CMS, which need a higher security deposit.
Private colleges50% for Rajasthan MBBS graduates and in-service doctors; the other 50% open to NMC-recognised MBBS graduates from anywhere.
Senior DemonstratorsRegular Senior Demonstrators with three years in the same department get priority for PG seats in that department of government, society and university colleges.
Post-MBBS Diploma / Post-MBBS DNBDiploma: the board fills 50% of sanctioned seats, all reserved for regular in-service Rajasthan government doctors. Post-MBBS DNB is likewise in-service only.

Reservation, service and fees

Reservation
Seats follow the Rajasthan reservation roster (SC, ST including STA, OBC-NCL, MBC-NCL, EWS), but the booklet gives no percentages. At least 25% of each category goes to women, PwD gets 5% horizontally, and only Rajasthan residents get category benefits.
In-service candidates
In-service candidates get bonus marks on their NEET PG 2025 score after Medical and Health Department verification, but must reach the qualifying percentile without them. Post-MBBS diploma and DNB seats are for regular in-service doctors only.
Service bond
Government/RajMES/RUHS CMS seats: Rs 10 lakh surety bond, replaced at final joining by a Rs 1.5 lakh bank guarantee plus Rs 8.5 lakh bond, and a 2-year state service bond. Private: undertaking to pay remaining fees if leaving.
Fees
2025-26 annual tuition: government medical colleges Rs 8,053 (about Rs 28,186 due at admission); RajMES and RUHS CMS Rs 63,800 for a government seat and Rs 8,68,200 for a payment seat; private clinical MD/MS up to Rs 32,55,000.

How the process runs

  1. Register online (Part 1 and Part 2) and pay the non-refundable fee: Rs 4,000, or Rs 3,000 for Rajasthan SC/ST.
  2. Provisional merit list is published, along with a separate Senior Demonstrator merit list.
  3. Pay the refundable security deposit before choice filling: Rs 1 lakh for government seats, Rs 2 lakh for management seats, Rs 5 lakh for private colleges.
  4. PwD candidates attend in-person disability verification at SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
  5. Fill and lock choices online; fresh choices are needed in every round.
  6. After allotment, pay one year's tuition by NEFT/RTGS and report in person, with original documents and bonds, at the allotted college's desk in the Academic Block, SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
  7. Rounds 2 and 3 allow upgradation; Round 3 needs a fresh application and a new security deposit.
  8. Stray vacancy round: documents must be verified and deposited with the board in advance; state eligibility rules no longer apply.

What costs candidates seats here

Choices are wiped after each round. If you don't fill fresh choices, you aren't considered, even for an upgrade.
If you are allotted a seat in Round 2 or later and don't join, you lose your security deposit and the next round; skipping a stray-round seat bars you for a year.
Joining in person at the SMS Medical College Academic Block desk is compulsory, and there is no extension.
Caste, OBC/MBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be issued in Rajasthan; reserved-category candidates from other states are counted as General.
Anyone who has joined a seat through AIQ Round 3 or another counselling is ineligible for state Round 3 and the stray round.

State quota closing ranks

The board publishes round-wise allotment lists with each candidate's combined state merit number, category, course, seat type and college, but no cutoff table. Figures below are the highest merit number allotted per group in Round 1; in-service bonus is included.

Rajasthan's government colleges, seat by seat

Each college’s sanctioned PG intake, the share the All India Quota took, and what that leaves the state. The last column is the most competitive All India Quota Open closing rank in the college — a measure of how sought-after it is nationally, not a state cutoff.

The hardest All India Quota seats in Rajasthan last year: MD Radiodiagnosis at Sawai Man Singh Medical College (317); MD General Medicine at Sawai Man Singh Medical College (349); MD Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy at Sawai Man Singh Medical College (398); MD Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy at Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Udaipur (671); MD Radiodiagnosis at Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner (722).
